PPS on additional computer?
Do you already have PPS installed on 1 or more computer(s)? and you need to have an extra workstation ready, please follow our guide below.
Preparation:
- Have your PPS/CrewBriefing login credentials ready
- Make sure you are compliant with our Minimum Requirements for PPS
- Admin privileges on your computer and the “Temp” folder (C:\Windows\Temp) and SystemTemp (C:\Windows\SystemTemp) is accessible (granted permession)
Download PPS
Start downloading PPS from our website.
Please note some Anti virus software are very strong and strict due to Cyber Security.
As the PPS application installation software contains .exe files which is used for the installation process, some antivirus software will delete or blacklist some of the installation files, so please deactivate your Anti virus software temporarily during the download and installation process.
Start installation
The Installation Wizard is downloaded to your “Download” folder on your computer. Find the file and double click to start the installation:
The wizard will take you through all the steps very easily. All you basically need is to confirm the wizard may install the program on your computer and follow the steps.
Add account (s)
The fastest way to add account and users is to open PPS either via the PPS tray or shortcut on your desktop.
When it is a new fresh installation the Accounts and Users Wizard” automatically pops up and then confirm with “Yes” you want to add a new account.
You can also use our PPS8Wizard on the computer, it is found here:
C:\Program Files\AIR SUPPORT\PPS8\SettingsManager and open the application:
To install the account correct please first open the program as “Run as Administrator” and follow the instructions and then normal with “Open”.
The process for PPS8 and PPS X is identical when the Wizard opens.
PPS data on a shared server?
If you have your PPS data stored on e.i. OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive or Dropbox you can easily synchronize your PPS data to the new installation you have just installed.
1: Use Register Editor
Open the application in your computer’s Start menu.
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE => SOFTWARE => AIR SUPPORT => PPS8 => Current Version => Common => InstallRoot and double click on “SharedDataPath”
Insert the path to your shared folder, e.i. “G:\My Drive\pps8sharedfolder\PPS8\” (excluding your 3-letter code)
Press OK and close Registry Editor and start PPS.
On the initial startup of PPS it might take a bit longer time as the new data from the shared server needs to be synchronized to the program.
2: PPS8 Option Users
Open the program as “Run as Administrator”
Go to the top tab called “Corporate data” and click.
In here choose where the data should be retrieved from – find your PPS shared data and click on the preceding folder before your 3-letter code folder, ei. G:\My Drive\pps8sharedfolder\PPS8\ – or insert the path and click save.
PPS data on local drive?
After installing PPS and added your account, please navigate to your PPS shared folder on your computer. As default the path is C:\pps8sharedfolder\PPS8.
Delete the default data folder (labeled your 3-letter code) which has just been installed and then add your PPS data from another workstation to replace the default data.
In above example, delete “AS0” folder and transfer your own “AS0” folder from another device to this destination.
Then start PPS and it will now use your own PPS data.
Note: With this local solution setup normally no data are synchronized between computer’s – so if you make changes on workstation 1 in your aircraft data, OFP, CSV files etc it will not reflect on workstation 2 or 3
