En-Route Alternate (ERA)
The En-Route Alternative (ERA) option in the contingency fuel area of the Fuel Guide item activates the ERA calculation to use 3% contingency fuel if the alternate fulfils certain criteria according to EASA OPS.

If the ERA option is selected then the dropdown menu appears as shown below.
The menu provides a list of ERA airports that lie within a circle defined by EASA OPS rules (described later in this section).
PPS automatically draws the circle following the EASA OPS rules and provides Alternates within it. PPS also lists the distance in NM from the centre of the circle to the Alternate.

You may reduce the Contingency Fuel from 5% to 3% if you select an airport within a circle based on the following (which is shown in the Mini-map, see below):

- The circle must have a radius of 20% of the total flight plan distance. The circle is centered upon the planned route at a distance from the destination aerodrome of 25% of the total flight plan distance, or at least 20% of the total flight plan distance plus 50NM, whichever is greater. Distances are calculated in still air conditions.
- In the example above Vojens/Skrydstrup (EKSP) aerodrome lies within the circle described in the bullet point above.
